What is the Difference Between Botox and Dermal Fillers?

The Difference Between Botox and Fillers

Botox and fillers are non-invasive anti-aging treatments with different goals. Botox is designed to block muscle contractions and smooth out fine lines and wrinkles. Fillers, on the other hand, are intended to restore age-related volume loss with the use of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in your body.

You can use Botox to treat dynamic wrinkles such as crow’s feet and frown lines, which occur whenever you make a facial expression. Dermal fillers like Juvederm and Restylane may add volume to your face so that it’s not as flat or deflated. It can give you that plump, youthful look. Fillers may also be used to improve the appearance of moderate to severe facial wrinkles.

They are ideal if you’re bothered by lines and wrinkles around your mouth, such as nasolabial folds, which are lines that extend from the corners of your nose to the outer corner of your mouth.

Even though these treatments are not permanent, they do last for quite some time. You can expect Botox to last anywhere from 3 to 4 months and fillers to last between 9 and 18 months.
